Alessi Beverages
Alessi Beverages was founded in Melbourne by Francesco (Frankie) and Joe Alessi in 2006, however, the family’s connection with food and wine goes back generations.
Originating from the Aeolian Islands off the coast of Sicily, the Alessi’s were fishermen. After the family migrated to Australia in the 1950s, Frankie and his father become fishermen in Port Phillip Bay supplying local markets and restaurants.
Entrepreneurial and ambitious, young Frankie saw the enormous opportunity in Australia and started numerous enterprises importing industrial and consumer products from Italy.
His work in promoting Italian industries and the Made In Italy brand was formally recognised in 1999 when the Italian President, Carlo Ciampi, made him a Cavaliere del Lavoro, the Italian equivalent of a knighthood.
In 2006, Frankie and his son Joe launched Alessi Beverages, a specialist wholesaler and distributor of Italian wine and other beverages. Over the years the range has widened to include select Italian food products as well as some locally-sourced products.

In survey after survey, Australians rank Italian food as their favourite. Perhaps this is because the Italian eating and drinking culture celebrates quality ingredients, time-honoured tradition and generous nonna-sized servings.
Our mission at Alessi Beverages is to source fantastic regional Italian wines and foods and make them available in Australia at an affordable price. Many of our suppliers are family-run, artisanal producers who have been mastering their craft for generations.
But Australia makes great wines too.
Alessi Beverage’s Woodfield Estate label showcases classic Australian styles of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay for both local and export markets. We also produce several lines of Australian wine exclusively for major retailers.
Private Labeling
As we source directly from producers, Alessi Beverages is able to offer private labeling on a selection of wines from both Italy and Australia.
